Body Stress Release (BSR) is a gentle complementary
health technique based on the premise that the body is a self-healing
entity. The body’s capacity for self-healing becomes compromised
though by an overload of stress that gets stored in its structure.The origins of the stored stress can be mechanical, mental
/ emotional or chemical.
The Body Stress Release practitioner tests
the client’s body for stress and releases the stored stress with
gentle but firm pressure while the client lies fully clothed on
a BSR couch.
The practice of BSR was discovered and refined
by Drs Gail and Ewald Meggersee in the 1980s.The South African professional association for qualified
BSR practitioners was registered in 1987.BSR is practised in
more than sixteen countries around the world. The BSRA (SA) is also an affiliated
member of COCHASA.
